Our client is a major international distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). This global organisation seamlessly manages the distribution of their clients' A-brand products in over 75 countries. To support current and future growth, the company is looking for an ambitious, independent and solution-oriented Senior Accountant with a hands-on mentality. The Senior Accountant is in charge of the financial accounting of one or more legal entities within the organization. You will be part of a team of 6 FTE (Senior) Accountants and an Assistant Manager Accounting & Reporting. The Senior Accountant reports to the Manager Accounting & Reporting.

Job description

The Senior Accountant is an ambitious, qualified professional who will contribute to the further professionalization of the Accounting & Reporting processes within the organization. What falls under your range of duties?

Accounting (monitor and evaluate all accounting processes, complete financial records according to laws, regulations, internal requirements and report relevant taxes including reconciliation of Balance Sheet positions):

  • Prepare weekly payment of consumption tax, quarterly consumption tax returns and packaging tax returns;
  • Process cost allocations, revaluations, payroll journal entries, accruals, provisions, tax entries;
  • Preparation and submission of VAT, CBS, IDEP returns and deposit returns;
  • Monitor and manage communications with external parties;
  • Approval of suppliers and customers in ERP system;
  • Reconciliation of intercompany balances;
  • Administration of fixed assets;
  • Processing bank statements.

Financial Reporting (Monthly Closing Process and Annual Reporting Process):

  • Ensure timely reporting of trial balance including analytical review;
  • Support the Accounting & Reporting team's monthly closing processes and deadlines;
  • Acquire information from the operational teams to prepare and challenge monthly accruals;
  • Participate in interim process reviews by the external auditor and ensure supporting documentation of process descriptions;
  • Provide assistance in the year-end audit with the external auditor (sample checks, review of goods movements, accruals records, accounting for provisions).

Requirements

Apart from having a solid understanding of and track record in Accounting, the ideal candidate is driven, has a strong personality, and is able to deliver within deadlines.

Important requirements are: 

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO/WO) in Accounting, Controlling, Finance or a similar field;
  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience of which at least 1 year on the Dutch labor market;
  • Candidates must have a valid NL/EU working permit (sponsorship cannot be provided);
  • Hands-on, pro-active, structured and a team player with an open mindset;
  • Familiarity with the Dutch accounting standards & guidelines;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Navision, Qlickview, XI-reporting;
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
