The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) is a federal law applicable in the US. SOX obliges all US companies listed on the stock exchange to include an internal control report in their annual reports. This must then be approved by the accounting department. In the internal control report, the management gives account for the quality of the internal control with regard to financial processes.
